Language & Literacy

Create daily journal entries with illustrations and labeling using kindergarten spelling
Passport page drawing and descriptions of what we learned about in the unit
Map of what continent we are visiting outlining water and land. Writing with upper and lower case letters the name of the continents
Learning some of the native language (greeting, day of the week, etc.)
Title our activities using upper and lower case letters
Make up story about our travel using a story stick
Make up poetry using drawing and rhyming words.

Social Studies/Science

Review Globe – where we are, where is water, land, equator, directions
Discuss seasons (wet & dry season in the Savannah)
Learn about the anatomical structure of animals in Savannah (muscle, bones etc.)
Learn about the lifestyle of animals (eg. lions pride and how he protects his family)
Tactile activities (Clay, textured wallpaper, fur, fingerpaint)


Paint Jeep using math shapes (circle, rectangle, triangle, square etc.)
Compare length, weight, and height of animals with kindergartener
Use a pattern of shapes to put scales on a crocodile
Make a 3D diorama of a scene in the Savannah
Count calendar days
