About Us

The Needham Fine & Performing Arts Department is a K-12 department comprised of over 60 certified teachers, private instructors and accompanists. We offer a comprehensive, standards based arts education that is an integral and core component to the educational experience of every child K-12 in the Needham Public Schools.

All elementary students receive foundational instruction in both visual arts and music with an option to enroll in the Instrumental Program starting in Third Grade. At the Middle School level, instruction continues in the visual arts and music, with added opportunities in theater arts and the ability to focus on a specific discipline. At the High School level, students are able to choose from a wide variety of course offerings, with both the opportunity to study a specific medium in depth or explore a variety of semester long course offerings. At the Middle and High School levels, students successfully participate in festivals and adjudications such as the Mass Music Educators Association Music Festivals and the Scholastic Art Awards. All of our students are active both within the school and local community through visual art displays and performing arts events.
