Multi-Function Student Activity Bus (MFSAB)

Multi- Function School Activity Buses (MFSAB) are vehicles with a passenger seating capacity of 12 - 14, which are required to meet all federal motor vehicle safety standards applicable to school buses, except for those requiring the installation of traffic control devices (flashing lights and stop arms.)

Needham Public Schools operates one MFSAB that can be used by NPS teachers, administrators and coaches for periodic or ad hoc extracurricular travel that occurs during, before or after the school day.  Extracurricular travel includes, but is not limited to: field trips, sports trips, and travel to/from an extracurricular activity. The MFSAB is parked at the Emery Grover administration building.

Drivers must apply to use the vehicle and be approved by the Director of Transportation, before they may operate the MFSAB.   Driver applicants must possess a Class D driver's license in good standing, watch a training video, receive behind-the-wheel instruction and read the procedure manual as part of the application process.  Click on the link below to apply to drive the vehicle.

The MFSAB may be reserved by completing and submitting the charter request form and submitting it to Diana Baccari in the School Transportation Office.  Please contact Ms. Baccari to check vehicle availability.

Finally, all MFSAB riders must have a completed permission slip from a parent/guardian to ride the vehicle.
