The Needham Public Schools has a deep commitment to the success of our diverse students and families and to the professional accomplishments of its educators. Needham devotes itself to cultural proficiency, equity, and community collaboration to fulfill the vision of the Portrait of a Needham Graduate

The District has dedicated itself to cultivating an environment where it embraces diverse perspectives and backgrounds, acknowledging that a team reflecting a diversity of race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital/domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, and veteran status allows Needham Public Schools to better serve the Needham community.

When filling a vacancy, the District searches for high-quality candidates that can best provide the services of that position. Often times, the ideal candidate may have a less traditional background. We would encourage you to apply, even if you do not meet every one of the qualifications described for the position.

The Needham Public Schools does not discriminate against students, parents, applicants, employees, or the general public on the basis of race, color, sex, homeless status, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or age. In addition to the protected classes identified and in regard to employment practices, the Needham Public Schools also does not discriminate based on genetic information, ancestry, or status as a veteran.

This is my first year in Needham. Everything from the moment I arrived for my first interview made me feel very comfortable. I was provided questions beforehand, and the whole interview process was incredibly transparent. I was connected with the principal and teachers, who communicated with me throughout the process and answered my questions right away. The orientation process was very helpful and allowed me to connect with even more staff. Now that I am in the position, I still enjoy the same supports from my mentor and colleagues that I experienced in the interview process. Gabriela

I have always wanted to be a teacher, but I went into sales after graduating. After coming to Needham, I found a welcoming atmosphere from the staff and students. That really let me share what gifts I have in me with students. With support from Needham administration, I am pursuing a degree to get my teachering license so I can have a classroom of my own.

I was so excited about the opportunity to teach in Needham because of the district's commitment to social and emotional learning, which I believe is paramount to a child's success. Needham's commitment to SEL is evident not only in its curriculum design and the portrait of a graduate but also in all staff, student, and parent interactions. I feel so lucky to work in a place where positive relationships, communication, and collaboration are valued on every level and modeled by the superintendent and administration!

My areas of expertise are curriculum and instruction, science, and sixth graders.  6th graders are wildly curious, with a dash of overconfidence. As a classroom teacher, I get to do four live shows a day in a subject I love. I emphasize interpersonal connections and student responsibilities using the curriculum as a catalyst. In doing this I practice real-world application and put a human face on everything that happens here. The parent community here is supportive, my door is always open, and because of these factors, there is a nice feeling of professional support, earned trust, and mutual respect.

When I started teaching here, I wasn’t always comfortable sharing my learning challenges, but I realized sharing them was helpful for my students to understand their own learning styles, and help them work to their fullest potential, even beyond their comfort zones. The supports and resources in Needham are great, allowing us to base our programming on the needs of students. My mentor was an amazing support for my first few years, and I still benefit from the collegial support and teamwork in my school.

When considering multiple districts to teach in, the Needham Public School’s employee daycare program made the difference. The staff at the daycare are truly amazing, and I know I can focus on the needs of my students while my child is well cared for nearby.
